me 1 minute ago: leprechauns aren’t a problem if you drop your gold beforehand
me now: i f@#$ing hate leprechauns
is that a cursed scroll of summon monster? it’s got to be cursed because it summoned so many, right?
also, notice it summoned another leprechaun?
luckily, the random scroll in my inventory was a scroll of teleport. let’s see if i can get downstairs without going into that room. sorry noodles but you’re going to have to make it work in there somehow.

just ran the protection racket really successfully with a gnomish healer. i had like -12 ac without wearing anything getting in the way of my spellcasting, and i had some awesome stuff (including a unicorn horn, and healers get good at using unicorn horns as weapons).

i was weak from hunger and didn’t have enough mana for stone to flesh to eat a boulder or something, so i prayed. i guess it was too soon and i lost all my divine protection :(

i would have a screen shot but i ragequit too quickly lol. guess i should keep better track of my prayer timeout :|

Well, that udon just died after getting swallowed by some kind of vortex after a particularly nasty fight with Sasquatch. I had barely started sighing with relief when I died.
I rolled another wizard and I have an interesting starting inventory with a scroll of genocide and a ring of conflict. I’m going to save the scroll of genocide for later, or for when I can use it to save my life when I am certainly going to die. The ring of conflict should come in handy for zoos, throne rooms, leprechaun halls, killer bee swarms, and things like that.

Did that random giant have a random amulet of life-saving?
I had a wand of probing, i wish i would’ve known. I don’t know what I would’ve done about it, though. I have a ring of polymorph control, i could’ve tried to find a way to polymorph and decided to be a nymph. I think you can steal as a nymph.
The frustrating thing is that didn’t even help me id the amulet. I don’t know what kind of amulet he was wearing, and it didn’t prompt me to ‘name’ the amulet I saw in action.
Shucks :(
Well the last Udon died a stupid death not worth mentioning. This Udon has completed sokoban (bag of holding) and is now wandering aimlessly. I would just go back up and then down to minetown and maybe get the luckstone (i have negative luck from some sokoban mishaps), but the level above me is swarming with fire ants that killed my pet. I just can’t handle them yet…
Random giant with “oLS… I can’t get over that…

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot
finally finished sokoban! i’m using a wizard, and it’s pretty fun. i started with a scroll of identify,  which i’m totally into, and a magic marker with a sort-of-ridiculous 98 charges. i’m not really sure why, but magic markers are really important to people that are good at this game. if i survive long enough, maybe i can figure it out.
if you don’t know, you can (a)pply magic markers to an empty spellbook or scroll to copy an effect on it. obviously it’ll be really nice to be able to make up any scroll or spellbook i need, but if it’s this desired there must be some broken method of using it. maybe scrolls of genocide? who knows.
anyways, you might notice there are no boulders on this level. two or three times, near the end, monsters were trapped behind the boulder. i have some daggers to throw, but i have terrible aim,  so i always ended up having to resort to zapping force bolt at them and destroying the boulder. i think i get a luck penalty for that. luckily a co-aligned unicorn never spawned behind the boulder. eek.
i also ended up with a lot of pets. i cleared out most of the zoo by running in and throwing various rations at all the tameable monsters i could find, then running out and bottlenecking the enemies in the hall. i came really close to dying a few times,  but managed to hold onto my potion of full healing for later when i might actually need 400 hps healed.
when i took this screenshot i had 4 hit points. also, all those pets you see (not all the pets i currently have, i have two more kitties) are completely frozen from a floating eye. which is good, because that means i got to eat the corpse. woo telepathy!
i also got attacked not once, not twice, but three times by a giant swarm of killer bees. both times i got trapped behind them all, separated from my pet, and i somehow came out alive. of course, i only managed to remember that i could eat the killer bees to gain intrinsic poison resistance after the second wave. go me.
well i got the amulet of reflection. (i actually rushed in and grabbed it, which is good because the floating eyes almost certainly would’ve killed me) i would’ve preferred the bag of holding, but the “oR is still pretty exciting. now i just need to find somewhere to stash all my crap.

edit: if i don’t use my magic marker at all (i will definitely use my magic marker a lot) i could make up to 3 scrolls of genocide this game, or 4 if i also make a scroll of charging. pretty coooool

Keeping early game characters alive is way harder than I remembered. Like I never forgot that it’s hard, but remembering something is hard and doing something that is hard are completely different experiences.
I just nearly died killing a lizard so I could hang onto the corpse for curing stoning. I need it since I’m using prayer for fights after I drop below 6 hp. I had to use it in the fight with the stupid lizard. I left the shop (where the lizard spawned) triumphantly and was greeted in the upper room by a pack of wolves.
I retreated to the hallway so I could zap force bolt and attack all of them at the same time while only taking damage from one wolf. That incredible advantage wasn’t enough. I zapped my wand of slow monster and ran into the shop with 3 hit points, and immediately picked up some random object so the shopkeeper would block the door. Luckily it’s not a winter wolf with that frost ray death breathe of doom.
